Ok..with this house my jaw dropped. "Hello Beautiful!" I love everything about this house. The shingle style with wide bright trim, cottage round top door, the paint inside looks great! I love the furniture and the homey feel...and well the view is fab. This property even has a super cute guest cottage.
Isn't this door great!
I really wish I had the color of these walls..it's a perfect green.
I would be sooo late getting anywhere when I can stare at this water all day..and in any weather. The house is actually close enough to the water that you can probably still see it when it's mist and rainy.
Where the kids and dogs would live!
More photos are on the listing HERE. Enjoy and try not to drool.
This house is probably my perfect farmhouse. A touch coastal shingle style..and a touch craftsman. The inside is warm and inviting with a cozy fireplace room and open family style kitchen. The yard has everything I would want: pond, veggie gardens and lawn...but also some wild wooded spots. I have a soft spot for San Juan Island mini farms..Listed HERE
Due to school being out now we are heading to the new house for working weekends on Fridays. I don't have internet at the house yet...and blogging from the Ipad is not so great, so I'm going to have to move my MLS tours. I may just leave them floating for a bit in order to have flexibility during our move.
This time we are visiting the historic town of Astoria Oregon. Astoria is a very old town. It was actually the place that Lewis and Clark made their settlement when they journeyed to the Pacific. It is very hilly, bad in the winter ice...but great for views. In fact most of the Victorian cottages have some sort of water view.
It's also a nice little town to explore and we try to get over there for a poke around when we visit my grandparents at the beach.
This little cottage is filled with shabby charm. Tour it HERE. I LOVE this built in bed!!
Peek a boo view from the deck.
This lovely 1890 home has tons of period detail. Tour it HERE Along with a very nice updated kitchen.
Love this detail.. MUCH more than a peek a boo view! This four bedroom 1914 home has much of the original wood inside. Tour it HERE. I'm thinking this view is from the front of the house.. There are many more historic cottages for sale.. some needing some updates. Most are quite affordable considering their views.
This week I'm posting three cottages from west Seattle area. Green Lake and just across the freeway.
This little blue one is a sweet craftsman bungalow. I love how the bright blue and crisp white looks. The inside is a bit northwest beachy feeling. Find it Here This yellow cottage would be cheery in the northwest rain. I like the paint colors inside and how the yellow looks with the dark gray tile and white trim. I love the hard working hallway with it's storage and row of hooks. Find it Here
This larger blue cottage has great interior colors with a light feeling. The seaglass colored tile around the fireplace is perfect. Find it Here
I'm an unrepentant MLS addict. I love to look at the photos of homes listed for sale as you can get some really good decorating and DIY ideas for your own cottage. I would like to do an area highlight of some favorite houses.. but of course MLS listings are not up forever so the links may at some point not work.
Todays area...Bainbridge Island WA.
The Puget Sound islands are known for quirky summer homes and full time artist cottages. If you start at the high end price range you get the big fancy houses..so I always start small, as the ones with character tend to be the cheaper ones.
This little yellow cottage is sweet..and has a cute art studio just down the garden path.
Lots of big windows!
This Log Cabin is the perfect mix of warm rustic woods and character. My kids would love that loft space..and again another studio. This one also has a creek, chicken coop and gardens. A Little boy heaven if you don't mind washing a lot of clothes. The inside looks like something from a fall/winter PB catalog.
This sweet cottage is fab! I'm loving the robin egg kitchen..not sure I would have the guts to do it myself. But here it looks great and just pops in the photos. The warm wood floors and soft colors feel very summery and fresh. The gardens are wonderful too.. just enough wild to them, the blue flowers compliment the house colors.
